In your initial visit, your psychiatric provider will collect your medical history and discuss your goals in seeking psychiatric treatment. They will work with you to develop a thoughtful medication regimen.
Follow-up visits are typically scheduled at 1-3 month intervals. All patients must be seen at least once every three months, this regular monitoring allows your provider to ensure your medication is still effective, needed, and safe.
Our telehealth services are fully HIPAA compliant and rely on realtime audio/video so that our psychiatric providers can best evaluate your symptoms. Virtual medicine increases access to care and removes much of the burden associated with traditional medicine appointments, such as needing to take time off of school or work, and needing to commute. These are significant barriers for those under intense professional or academic pressure. We want your care to fit easily into your life and be a positive experience.
While our practice is based on the telehealth model, in person visits may be periodically required depending on your healthcare needs. If your medication regimen requires in-person visits, your provider will coordinate those with you at the appropriate intervals.
We are a practice with a limited amount of patients. This allows us to provide greater responsiveness, faster communication, and more personalization. We prescribe psychiatric medications through the lifespan - from age 6 to adulthood, and we specialize in treating young adults.
Our providers are keenly aware of the unique struggles that young adults face today and have helped many people through the transitions of starting/finishing college, beginning their careers, and venturing into adult life. Data indicates that mental health issues are increasing for young adults and we are here to help you cope with the variety of pressures in modern life. To schedule an appointment, fill out our intake form.
We provide diagnostic assessment and medication management for anxiety, depression, and stress related issues including (but not limited to) Major Depressive Disorder, Dysthymia/Persistent Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Agoraphobia, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Seasonal Affective Disorder, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, and trauma related disorders.
There is no miracle pill, but psychotropic medication can give you the boost you need to take control of your life. Lifestyle factors such as diet and nutrition, your level of physical activity, and psychosocial circumstances have major influence on your symptoms. Your provider will assess the risk versus benefits of medication management at each appointment, and will make lifestyle suggestions to assist you in managing your symptoms. Our providers work holistically, with your goals in mind, to create a medication regimen that works for you.
We strive to create that "private practice feel" and develop a rapport with our patients. Our providers perform supportive psychotherapy in addition to the medical evaluation. Supportive psychotherapy is a nonspecific form of therapy that provides comfort and guidance towards healthy behaviors while boosting self-esteem, promoting autonomy, and building a therapeutic alliance. It involves active listening, encouragement, reassurance, optimism, positive reinforcement of healthy behaviors, validation of feelings, and goal setting.
Supportive psychotherapy is inherent in a quality evaluation of your symptoms and a good therapeutic alliance is a strong predictor of more positive treatment outcomes. We approach treatment holistically, and by encouraging you to discuss your emotional response to daily life and stressors, your provider is better able to evaluate patterns of behavior and your progress in treatment.
